Sawadee Everyone,This was the week that the new cannabis rules dropped. Cannabis dispensaries will not longer be permitted to allow smoking on premises unless a licensed doctor of some sort is on site. Online sales (and vending machine sales) and any type of advertising is also now prohibited. Everything else was already included in the last revision of rules which made selling to people under 20 and to pregnant women illegal. What will this mean? Probably not much. Online dispensaries probably aren't going away. Dispensaries that allow smoking are, according to members of the sub, still allowing smoking. If this goes anything like how Thailand normally handles things, at some point they'll make a high profile bust of an online seller. A bunch of dispensaries already not making a lot of money will close up shop. Larger online dispensaries will go quiet for a bit while they wait for the smoke to clear (no pun intended) and then resurface. Storefront dispensaries will either hire a doctor to hang out all day or make arrangements with local authorities to permit on-site smoking. Some areas will have the law strictly enforced and other areas will have lax enforcement. While it probably won't be too impactful, it's unfortunate that they've banned online sales. While in some areas there's a dispensary on every corner, in other parts of the country there are absolutely no dispensaries and people have been ordering online.Sometimes you just want to stick your nose into a Mason jar and smell the fresh buds. In other news, r/CannabisThailand hit the 4,000 member milestone and keeps growing. Thank you for all of the people who have joined the community and contributed posts, comments, ideas, and feedback. Until next week . . . Cheers,u/CannabisThailandMod
