This is the 52nd edition of the weekly r/CannabisThailand newsletter which apparently means I’ve been doing this every week for a year.

I’m not sure that means anything but it just hit me as I wrote the subject line. Cheers, I guess.

Thai politics has been playing out like a high-stakes, politically-charged game of musical chairs this week. Pheu Thai (PT) and Move Forward Party (MFP) have been battling it out over the coveted Speaker's seat. Just when it seemed like a compromise was on the horizon - with PT graciously conceding the Speaker's spot to MFP, but keeping the PM cards close to their chest - the deal fizzled out faster than a wet firework.

There's been a lot of hullabaloo around the PT potentially torpedoing the MFP coalition, leading to a parliamentary game of "he said, she said". Now, it seems like the media has shifted gears, no longer considering MFP as a shoo-in for government formation. Apparently, PT has a lot to gain from blocking MFP's path and is being watched closely for any signs of pulling a political Houdini.

As the plot thickens, the true showdown will take place next week during the vote for the Speaker. Will we see a sudden truce or a dramatic backstabbing on the parliamentary floor? Or, is this all just a strategic bluff? One thing's for sure, Thai politics gives even the juiciest of soap operas a run for their money. Stay tuned!
